Bhoomi Pujan Muhurat 2027: Dates and Times

In 2027, New Delhi has 33 days with a bhoomi pujan muhurat in the calendar view — the books' main rules for laying a foundation — and 8 days in the strict view of the books. Neither view checks the lagna. The strict view leaves out 25 of them: Shripati's months close 20, Simhastha Guru 11, Panchaka 8 and the sankranti rule 2 (a day can fall under two rules), and it shortens the windows of 1 day more. The most days fall in November (11), February (7) and May (7); January, April and June to October have none. The personal muhurat also reads the way your plot faces and the school your family follows.

All 33 dates of 2027 at a glance

The calendar view's dates month by month, and what the strict view does with them. The cards below give the times.

  • January: no date in either view
  • February: 8, 11, 19, 22, 25, 26 and 27 (7 days); the strict view keeps none
  • March: 4, 6, 10 and 15 (4 days); the strict view keeps none

  • December: 2, 4, 9 and 13 (4 days); the strict view leaves out 9 December

The calendar view ranks 25 days in 2027 "Very good", the most in November (8) and May (6); each card shows its strength.

On a Saturday: 27 February; 6 March; 8 and 15 May; 4 December — 5 of the 33 days.

By weekday: 9 on a Monday, 4 on a Wednesday, 10 on a Thursday, 5 on a Friday and 5 on a Saturday; by fortnight, 20 in the bright half and 13 in the dark half (by the tithi of the first window).

Two views, two lists

The books give main rules and further cautions for laying a foundation, so this page gives two lists. The calendar view follows the books' main rules for laying a foundation. The strict view starts from the same windows and also applies Simhastha and Makara Guru (by region), the 7 days on either side of Venus' or Jupiter's combustion, only Shripati's pairs of the Sun's sign and the month, no Panchaka and 16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of each sankranti. A strict window always lies inside a calendar window, so the strict list is a shorter version of the same list, never a different one.

The biggest difference is Simhastha Guru, Jupiter in Leo: Muhurta Chintamani puts laying a foundation on the list of acts kept away from it, and many calendars do not apply it. Jupiter is in Magha or the first pada of Purva Phalguni from 31 Oct 2026, 12:02 to 25 Jan 2027, 01:31 and from 26 Jun 2027, 05:18 to 15 Sep 2027, 09:56 IST, which the books rule out in every region; it is in the rest of Leo from 15 Sep 2027, 09:56 to 26 Nov 2027, 18:45 IST, which they rule out at New Delhi too. The Simhastha Guru guide explains the rule and its regions, and Kharmas 2026–27 the two months of the Sun in Dhanu and Meena.

Which list to follow is a family matter. If your family keeps the books strictly, use the strict view; if it keeps their main rules, use the calendar view. Why muhurat dates differ lists the other reasons two calendars disagree.

The almanac this site checks its calendar views against publishes no year list for laying a foundation, so both views apply the rules of Muhurta Chintamani's Vastu prakarana and the authorities it quotes directly. A widely read website's 2027 list has 17 days, several outside the months and stars it names itself: 9 of them are in this calendar view, and each of the other 8 is closed here by at least one rule the book states — the month or the Sun's sign (5 days; the June and July ones are in months neither Narada nor B.V. Raman gives), the star (5), Bhadra (2), a yoga, a tithi the book leaves out, or a combust Venus.

Bhoomi pujan dates 2027, month by month

Each date shows its muhurat windows in IST for New Delhi, the nakshatra and tithi in them, and a strength word. A card says when the strict view shortens or closes the day; where it says nothing, both views agree. Choose a view to see one list at a time.

Every listed day passes the rules. "Very good", "Good" and "Usable" are a rough order from classical factors (such as the star, the weekday, the bright half) — not a probability or a promise.

Venus is combust by Surya Siddhanta's orbs (10°, 8° while retrograde): both views rule out laying a foundation — Muhurta Chintamani's Shubhashubha prakarana names it among the acts kept away from combustion. Almanacs that judge the planet's visibility can differ by a few days.

  8. Jupiter about to set (vriddha) Strict view

    9 Aug 2027, 19:42 – 16 Aug 2027, 19:42

The 7 days before the planet sets (vriddha — Dharma Sindhu's middle view): the strict view only.

  9. Jupiter combust (Guru asta) Both views

    16 Aug 2027, 19:42 – 15 Sep 2027, 03:12

Jupiter is combust by Surya Siddhanta's orbs (11°): both views rule out laying a foundation.

  10. Jupiter newly risen (balya) Strict view

    15 Sep 2027, 03:12 – 22 Sep 2027, 03:12

The 7 days after the planet rises again (balya — Dharma Sindhu's middle view): the strict view only.

  11. Simhastha Guru: Jupiter in the rest of Simha (regional) Strict view

    15 Sep 2027, 09:56 – 26 Nov 2027, 18:45

Jupiter in the rest of Simha: the strict view rules out laying a foundation between the Ganga and the Godavari and in Gujarat, Bengal and Odisha, which takes in New Delhi.

  12. The Sun in Kanya (Virgo) Both views

    from 17 Sep 2027, 14:10 to 18 Oct 2027, 02:08

Narada, quoted in Muhurta Chintamani's Vastu prakarana, leaves the Sun in Mithuna, Kanya, Dhanu or Meena out for starting a house.

  13. Venus newly risen (balya) Strict view

    17 Sep 2027, 22:48 – 24 Sep 2027, 22:48

The 7 days after the planet rises again (balya — Dharma Sindhu's middle view): the strict view only.

  14. The Sun in Dhanu (Sagittarius) Both views

    from 16 Dec 2027, 16:38 to 15 Jan 2028, 03:24

Narada, quoted in Muhurta Chintamani's Vastu prakarana, leaves the Sun in Mithuna, Kanya, Dhanu or Meena out for starting a house.

Sankrantis: the Sun's entry into each sign

The strict view avoids 16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of the moment the Sun enters a sign (B.V. Raman, Muhurtha). The sankrantis of 2027 at New Delhi, in IST:

  • Makara (Capricorn): the Sun enters at 14 Jan 2027, 21:10; avoided 14 Jan 2027, 14:46 – 15 Jan 2027, 03:34
  • Kumbha (Aquarius): the Sun enters at 13 Feb 2027, 10:09; avoided 13 Feb 2027, 03:45–16:33
  • Meena (Pisces): the Sun enters at 15 Mar 2027, 07:00; avoided 15 Mar 2027, 00:36–13:24
  • Mesha (Aries): the Sun enters at 14 Apr 2027, 15:28; avoided 14 Apr 2027, 09:04–21:52
  • Vrishabha (Taurus): the Sun enters at 15 May 2027, 12:19; avoided 15 May 2027, 05:55–18:43
  • Mithuna (Gemini): the Sun enters at 15 Jun 2027, 18:55; avoided 15 Jun 2027, 12:31 – 16 Jun 2027, 01:19
  • Karka (Cancer): the Sun enters at 17 Jul 2027, 05:48; avoided 16 Jul 2027, 23:24 – 17 Jul 2027, 12:12

  • Vrishchika (Scorpio): the Sun enters at 17 Nov 2027, 01:58; avoided 16 Nov 2027, 19:34 – 17 Nov 2027, 08:22
  • Dhanu (Sagittarius): the Sun enters at 16 Dec 2027, 16:38; avoided 16 Dec 2027, 10:14–23:02

Neither list rules out laying a foundation for these periods at New Delhi. Kharmas is closed here by Narada's Sun signs (Dhanu and Meena) rather than as Kharmas; Chaturmas is not a rule for building in these books (many families wait by custom); Holashtak is kept by Muhurta Chintamani only on the Beas, the Ravi and the Sutlej and at Pushkar. If your family keeps any of them, skip those dates (IST):

  • Chaturmas: 13 Jul 2027, 12:09 – 10 Nov 2027, 09:11 — this list keeps 4 days in it: 1, 4, 5 and 8 November
  • Holashtak: 15 Mar 2027, 10:51 – 22 Mar 2027, 16:13

How these dates are chosen

  • The Moon's nakshatra: best in the fixed and soft stars — Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati — and also in Pushya, Hasta, Swati, Dhanishtha and Shatabhisha (Muhurta Chintamani, Vastu prakarana).
  • The month: the lunar months Margashirsha, Phalguna, Vaishakha, Magha, Shravana or Kartika (amanta reckoning), never while the Sun is in Mithuna, Kanya, Dhanu or Meena (Narada, quoted in Muhurta Chintamani's Vastu prakarana). Never in an adhika month, never while Venus or Jupiter is combust (Surya Siddhanta's orbs: Venus 10°, 8° while retrograde, Jupiter 11°).
  • The tithi: only Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Shashthi, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, Dwadashi or Trayodashi of either half, or Purnima — no rikta tithi, Amavasya, Pratipada or Ashtami (Muhurta Chintamani, Vastu prakarana, with its Hindi commentary).
  • The weekday: never Sunday or Tuesday (Muhurta Chintamani, Vastu prakarana).
  • The hours: daylight only, from sunrise to sunset.
  • The other school: B.V. Raman (Muhurtha) gives Chaitra, Vaishakha, Shravana, Kartika and Magha as the months and rejects Margashirsha, Pausha and Phalguna — these lists follow Narada and Shripati as Muhurta Chintamani quotes them, and name Raman's months beside them.
  • Never on the day of an eclipse (Garga, quoted in Muhurta Chintamani's Samskara prakarana: no auspicious act then, even at its due time). An eclipse counts wherever on Earth it is seen.
  • No Bhadra (Vishti karana): it is avoided whole. The finer rules of its abode and its tail are not applied, so this list is stricter than calendars that apply them.
  • The yoga: never Vyatipata or Vaidhriti; of the other inauspicious yogas only the opening ghatis are cut — Vishkambha 5 ghatis, Atiganda 6 ghatis, Shula 7 ghatis, Ganda 6 ghatis, Vyaghata 9 ghatis, Vajra 9 ghatis, Parigha its first half (a ghati is 24 minutes; Muhurta Chintamani, Shubhashubha prakarana).
  • Gandanta: the last quarter of Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati and the first quarter of Magha, Mula and Ashwini are cut out (Kalaprakasika; Muhurta Chintamani states it in its Vivaha prakarana).
  • Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika — the day's eighths by weekday — are cut out of every window (South Indian practice, Kalaprakasika). Kalaprakasika itself does not count Gulika as inauspicious; these lists cut it anyway, as many calendars do, so they are a little stricter there.
  • A window keeps at least one ghati (24 minutes) of clean time, and a day shows up to three.
  • Strength: "Very good", "Good" and "Usable" are a rough order from the star's grade, a favoured weekday (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) and the bright half — not a probability.

What the strict view adds

  • Simhastha Guru: Jupiter in Magha or the first pada of Purva Phalguni rules out laying a foundation everywhere; Jupiter in the rest of Simha rules it out between the Ganga and the Godavari and in Gujarat, Bengal and Odisha (which takes in New Delhi); the rule is lifted while the Sun is in Mesha (Muhurta Chintamani, Shubhashubha prakarana, with Dharma Sindhu).
  • Makara Guru: Jupiter in Makara, avoided only in Konkan, Magadha, Bengal and Sindh — not at New Delhi.
  • The 7 days before Venus or Jupiter sets and the 7 days after it rises (vriddha and balya — Dharma Sindhu's middle view).
  • Shripati's months, quoted in Muhurta Chintamani's Vastu prakarana: the Sun in Kumbha with Phalguna; the Sun in Karka or Simha with Shravana; the Sun in Makara with Pausha; the Sun in Mesha or Vrishabha with Vaishakha; the Sun in Tula or Vrishchika with Margashirsha. Shripati ties them to the way the house faces — the first three to a house facing east or west, the last two to one facing north or south; this public list keeps all five, whatever the facing, so a family with an east- or west-facing plot keeps only the strict days of the first three pairs, and one facing north or south only those of the last two (the personal muhurat keeps the ones for your plot).
  • No Panchaka — the Moon from the second half of Dhanishtha to Revati (Muhurta Chintamani, Vastu prakarana, its commentary; Mandavya applies it to raising pillars).
  • 16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of each sankranti (B.V. Raman, Muhurtha).
  • Holashtak, Phalguna Shukla Ashtami to Purnima: Muhurta Chintamani (Shubhashubha prakarana, quoting Shighrabodha) keeps it only on the Beas, the Ravi and the Sutlej and at Pushkar; not at New Delhi.

What these lists leave to you

  • The lagna: these lists do not check the rising sign at the moment of the act.
  • Your own factors: Tara Bala and Chandra Bala depend on your birth star and Moon sign. They are not checked here.
  • Which of Shripati's pairs suits your plot's facing is not chosen here (the strict view keeps all five, whatever the facing), and where to dig first and the owner's Sun are not applied; a thatch or wood house is not bound by the month rule, which these lists apply to every house.
  • An eclipse is counted wherever on Earth it is seen (the stricter reading); kshaya and vriddhi tithis, tithi gandanta, the dagdha and visha tithi–weekday pairs and Chandra Bala's vedha are not applied in either view.
  • Family and local customs beyond the rules named on this page.

For your city or your own dates

A nakshatra or tithi changes at the same moment everywhere, but each place has its own sunrise, sunset and Rahu Kalam, so another city's windows start and end a few minutes apart, and a day near a change can drop out or come in. The muhurat finder computes both views of the bhoomi pujan list for your city and your own dates, up to three months at a time, and its results offer the personal check below. Start from a month:

A personal muhurat from the kundli

A list for everyone cannot check your own stars. Muhurta Chintamani's Gochara prakarana adds two personal checks: Tara Bala, the day's nakshatra counted from the birth nakshatra, and Chandra Bala, the Moon's sign counted from the birth Moon sign. A day that is good in general can be weak for one person.

The personal bhoomi pujan muhurat reads your saved kundli: each day's Tara Bala and Chandra Bala, the lagna times that fit the act inside each window, the months for the way your plot faces and the school your family follows, a Muhurat Patra (PDF) and reminders. 101 coins for the event: before you pay you see how many days are open before your chart is checked, and if none passes your chart, nothing is charged. Or 50 coins to check one date, charged for its answer, whether the date passes or not.

Or ask the AI astrologer about one date from this list: it reads the day for the place saved in your kundli and names the rule behind its answer.

Sign in, then choose your kundli and the city.

Questions people ask

How many bhoomi pujan muhurat days are there in 2027?
At New Delhi, 33 days in the calendar view and 8 days in the strict view. The most fall in November (11), February (7) and May (7). January, April and June to October have none. Each date on this page shows its windows in IST.
Which months are good for bhoomi pujan in 2027?
Narada, quoted in Muhurta Chintamani's Vastu prakarana, gives the lunar months Margashirsha, Phalguna, Vaishakha, Magha, Shravana or Kartika, and leaves out the Sun in Mithuna, Kanya, Dhanu or Meena. In 2027 at New Delhi: Margashirsha (1 Jan – 7 Jan), Magha (7 Feb – 8 Mar), Phalguna (9 Mar – 6 Apr), Vaishakha (7 May – 4 Jun), Shravana (3 Aug – 31 Aug), Kartika (30 Oct – 28 Nov) and Margashirsha (29 Nov – 27 Dec).
Does the way the plot faces change the month?
In Shripati's rule, quoted in Muhurta Chintamani, it does: a house facing east or west is begun with the Sun in Kumbha and Phalguna, Karka or Simha and Shravana, or Makara and Pausha; one facing north or south with the Sun in Mesha or Vrishabha and Vaishakha, or Tula or Vrishchika and Margashirsha. The strict view here keeps all five pairs; the personal muhurat keeps the ones for your plot.
Can bhoomi pujan be done in Kharmas or Chaturmas?
Not in Kharmas: Narada leaves the Sun in Dhanu and Meena out for starting a house, so both views here close those months. Chaturmas is not a rule for building in the books these lists follow; many families wait for Dev Uthani Ekadashi by custom.
Why do some lists give other months for bhoomi pujan?
The books do not all give the same months. Narada and Shripati, as Muhurta Chintamani quotes them, give the months these lists use; B.V. Raman gives Chaitra, Vaishakha, Shravana, Kartika and Magha, and rejects Margashirsha, Pausha and Phalguna. Some lists follow neither: one widely read 2027 list keeps days in Jyeshtha and Ashadha, which neither school gives. The personal muhurat lets your family choose either school.
Are these bhoomi pujan dates the same for my city?
Mostly, but not to the minute. A nakshatra or tithi changes at the same moment everywhere, while sunrise, sunset and Rahu Kalam are local, so another city's windows start and end a few minutes apart, and a day can drop out or come in where a change falls near a window's edge. The strict view also reads some rules by region: the rest of Simhastha, Makara Guru and Holashtak. The muhurat finder computes both views for your city.
