Tithi is a lunar day in the Vedic calendar. There are 30 Tithis per lunar month — 15 in Shukla Paksha (waxing) and 15 in Krishna Paksha (waning). Each Tithi is defined by a 12° separation between the Moon and Sun.
Rahu Kalam is an inauspicious ~1.5-hour window each day associated with the shadow planet Rahu. It falls at a different time depending on the weekday. Starting new ventures during Rahu Kalam is traditionally avoided.
Abhijit Muhurta is the most auspicious 48-minute period of the day, centred on solar noon. Lord Vishnu presides over this time, making it ideal for starting important work, business decisions, or ceremonies.
Brahma Muhurta is a spiritually charged 48-minute period ending 1.5 hours before sunrise. Ancient texts prescribe this time for meditation, yoga, and Vedic study. The mind is said to be clearest during this window.
Nakshatra is one of 27 lunar mansions, each spanning exactly 13°20′ of the zodiac. The Moon's daily Nakshatra position influences the overall quality and energy of the day, and is used in muhurta selection and compatibility matching.
Panchanga Yoga (not to be confused with astrological yogas) is one of 27 periods calculated from the combined longitudes of the Sun and Moon. Each Yoga has a name and a quality — some are auspicious for starting activities, others advise caution.
