Your kundli is not generated from a template. Each of the steps below is a real computation run against your exact birth moment, in this order:

1. Lagna (ascendant), to the degree. Your birth city is resolved to latitude, longitude and timezone, your local birth time converted to Universal Time, and the zodiac degree rising on the eastern horizon computed for that instant. The Lagna moves about one degree every four minutes — which is why birth time matters more here than anywhere else.

1. All nine grahas, sidereally placed. Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu — each with its rashi, its exact degree within that rashi, the nakshatra it occupies and that nakshatra's lord. Retrograde motion is detected from each planet's daily speed, not looked up in a table.

1. Whole-sign houses (bhavas). The sign holding your Lagna becomes the 1st bhava in full, the next sign the 2nd, and so on — the house system the Parashari rules were written for. We don't mix a Western cusp system into a Vedic reading.

1. Janma Nakshatra and its lord. The lunar mansion your Moon occupied at birth, with its ruling graha. This one placement sets your entire dasha sequence, so it is computed before anything time-related is derived. Nakshatra pada is computed internally and feeds the AI reading.

The full 120-year cycle built from your Moon's exact position: nine Mahadashas, each subdivided into nine Antardashas, with the running Pratyantardasha resolved on top. The first period is prorated by how far the Moon had already crossed your Janma Nakshatra.

1. Yogas and doshas from a rule engine, not a language model. Your chart is tested against a knowledge base of 42 yoga and 16 dosha definitions drawn from Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika and Brihat Samhita. Every rule carries its own cancellation conditions, and cancelled combinations are suppressed rather than shown to you as a scare.

1. Shadbala — six-fold planetary strength. For the seven classical grahas we compute Sthana, Dig, Kala, Naisargika, Drig and Cheshta Bala, then compare each total against the strength that graha is classically required to have. Divisional charts — Navamsa (D9) and Dasamsa (D10) — and Ashtakavarga bindus are computed alongside and inform the AI reading rather than the free chart output.

All of it runs on the Swiss Ephemeris with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, using the true lunar node for Rahu and Ketu rather than the mean node — a gap of up to about 1.5 degrees, enough near a boundary to change your Janma Nakshatra and therefore your whole dasha sequence.

Vimshottari Dasha is the timing system most Indian astrologers reach for first. It divides a nominal human lifespan of 120 years among the nine grahas in a fixed order and fixed proportions: Ketu 7 years, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19, Mercury 17. Add those up and you get exactly 120. The order never changes and the lengths never change. What differs from person to person is only where in the cycle you enter it.

Where your cycle starts. Each of the 27 nakshatras is ruled by one of those nine grahas, repeating three times through the zodiac. Whichever nakshatra your Moon occupied at birth, that nakshatra's lord becomes your first Mahadasha. And because you were almost certainly born partway through a nakshatra rather than at its exact start, your first Mahadasha is shortened proportionally. If your Moon had already crossed 60% of its nakshatra, you get the remaining 40% of that planet's period, and the cycle proceeds normally from there.

The three tiers. A Mahadasha is the major period — six to twenty years — and sets the broad theme of that stretch of life. Inside it, each Mahadasha is subdivided into nine Antardashas running in the same planetary order but starting with the Mahadasha lord itself. An Antardasha's length is its own planet's years multiplied by the Mahadasha lord's years, divided by 120. Inside each Antardasha the same subdivision happens again to produce the Pratyantardasha, usually a few weeks to a few months. Read them together, not separately: the Mahadasha sets the chapter, the Antardasha sets the paragraph, the Pratyantardasha sets the sentence.

A worked calculation. Suppose your Moon sits in Rohini nakshatra, which is ruled by the Moon, and it had crossed about 60% of Rohini at birth on 5 November 1990. Your opening Mahadasha is therefore Moon, but only about 4 years of it — running to roughly November 1994. Mars follows for its full 7 years to November 2001, then Rahu for 18 years to November 2019, then Jupiter for 16 years to November 2035. So this person is in a Jupiter Mahadasha today. Within it, the Mercury Antardasha runs 16 × 17 ÷ 120 = about 2.27 years, from July 2024 to October 2026. Within that, the Saturn Pratyantardasha covers roughly June to October 2026.

Reading it in practice. Your table highlights the row you are in now. Look first at where each active lord sits in your chart — its house, its rashi, whether it is dignified or weak — because a dasha delivers what its lord is capable of delivering in your chart, not a generic verdict attached to the planet's name. A Saturn period in a chart with a strong, well-placed Saturn is not the same experience as one with a weak Saturn, and no honest reading treats them alike.

A dosha is a specific, named combination — not a curse and not a verdict. Classical texts pair almost every dosha with the conditions that cancel or soften it, and a reading giving the first without the second is incomplete. Here are the four most-searched ones.

Mangal Dosha (Manglik / Kuja Dosha). Formed when Mars occupies the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the Lagna. Many astrologers check the same six houses from the Moon and from Venus too, and traditions genuinely disagree at the edges — the South Indian reckoning counts the 2nd house while the North Indian one often does not, so the same chart can be Manglik in Chennai and not in Delhi. Severity is not flat either: Mars in the 8th is the strongest form, the 4th and 7th strong, the 1st, 2nd and 12th milder. It traditionally indicates friction and delay in marriage and a temperament that runs hot in close partnership — not doom. Cancellations are numerous: Mars in its own or exaltation sign, Mars conjunct or aspected by the Moon, a Jupiter aspect on Mars or on the 7th house, Mars in the 2nd in Gemini or Virgo, Mars in the 12th in Taurus or Libra, and — most cited of all — both partners carrying the dosha, which is held to cancel it mutually.

Kaal Sarp Dosha. Formed when all seven classical planets, Sun through Saturn, fall on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis with nothing in the other half. Twelve named varieties are distinguished by the house Rahu occupies — Ananta, Kulika, Vasuki, Shankhpal and so on. It is associated with effort-heavy progress: recurring obstacles, results that arrive later than they should. The provenance is worth knowing, and we would rather tell you than not — Kaal Sarp does not appear in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra or the other foundational Parashari texts. It comes from later compilations and its roots are disputed. Even within that tradition it is easily set aside: one planet outside the axis reduces it to a partial formation, and a strong Jupiter in a kendra or trikona, or Rahu or Ketu in its own or exaltation sign, cancels it.

Nadi Dosha. Widely misunderstood, because it is not a natal dosha at all — it exists only when two charts are compared. In Ashtakoot Guna Milan, Nadi is one of eight kootas and carries the heaviest weight, 8 of the 36 points. Each nakshatra is assigned one of three nadis — Aadi, Madhya or Antya — and Nadi Dosha arises when both people share the same one, read as a constitutional similarity the texts prefer to see complemented rather than duplicated. It is commonly waived when the two share a nakshatra but sit in different padas, or share a rashi while occupying different nakshatras. Nothing in a single kundli can be Nadi-doshic on its own.

Pitra Dosha. Read from affliction to the Sun and to the 9th house — the significators of father and paternal lineage. The usual signatures are the Sun conjunct Rahu or Ketu, the Sun with Saturn in the 5th or 9th, the Sun in a dusthana (6th, 8th or 12th), or the 9th house and its lord under heavy malefic influence. It is interpreted as unfinished ancestral obligation surfacing as recurring obstacles or strain in the paternal line. Of the four it is the least standardised — definitions vary substantially between Parashari and Lal Kitab practice — so treat any confident one-line verdict with caution. Strong benefic influence on the 9th house or its lord, and a well-placed Sun or Jupiter, are the classical mitigating factors.

More interesting is the Sun: Libra is the Sun's sign of debilitation, so at first glance this is a weak Sun. But its dispositor Venus sits conjunct it within a degree, and Saturn — which is exalted in Libra — sits in the 4th, a kendra. Either condition on its own satisfies Neecha Bhanga, so the debilitation is cancelled. The classical caveat matters here too: neecha bhanga results are said to show up chiefly during the periods of the debilitated planet and its dispositor, which in this chart is not now.

The doshas. Mars is in the 9th, and the 9th is not one of the six Manglik houses, so this chart is not Manglik under either the North or the South Indian reckoning. The Moon and Mars fall outside the Rahu–Ketu axis while the other five planets fall inside it, so there is no Kaal Sarp.
