AI Jaimini Astrology Readings
Jaimini reads the chart through the planets' degrees — the Atmakaraka that leads the soul, the Amatyakaraka that leads the career, the Darakaraka that describes the spouse — and times it with signs instead of planets. ProxaAI computes every Jaimini factor from your kundli and reads it in a labelled paragraph beside the Parashari analysis.
What Is Jaimini Astrology?
The Jaimini Sutras describe a system parallel to Parashara's. Its planets are ranked by degree within their signs: the planet with the highest degree becomes the Atmakaraka (the self), then the Amatyakaraka (career), Bhratrikaraka (siblings and guru), Matrikaraka (mother), Putrakaraka (children), Gnatikaraka (obstacles and rivals) and Darakaraka (spouse). Signs aspect signs — movable signs see the fixed ones except the adjacent, fixed see the movable except the adjacent, dual signs see each other — which is rashi drishti. Houses are reflected into arudha padas: the Arudha Lagna is the image the world sees, the Upapada the marriage. And time is measured by Chara dasha, periods ruled by signs whose lengths depend on where their lords sit.
What ProxaAI Computes
Every Jaimini quantity is derived from the sidereal positions of your Vedic kundli, deterministically:
- The seven chara karakas in the Jaimini Sutras scheme, with the eight-karaka Atmakaraka (BPHS: Rahu counted as 30° minus its degree) reported whenever it differs.
- The Karakamsha — the Atmakaraka's navamsha sign — the planets that join the Atmakaraka there, and every planet's navamsha house counted from it.
- The arudha padas by BPHS chapter 29: a pada that falls on the house itself moves to the tenth from it, one that falls on its seventh moves to the fourth from the house; Scorpio and Aquarius houses count to their stronger lord.
- Rashi drishti between every pair of planets.
- Chara dasha as K.N. Rao teaches it — direct or reverse from the lagna by the footing of its ninth sign, years counted to the sign's lord minus one with no exaltation adjustment, the stronger co-lord for Scorpio and Aquarius, sub-periods in the direction of the ninth sign from the running sign — with every sub-period dated and the running dasha sign read as a lagna.
- Argala on the lagna, the Atmakaraka and the Arudha Lagna: planets in the 2nd, 4th, 11th and 5th that intervene and those in the 12th, 10th, 3rd and 9th that obstruct, decided by number and then by strength, counted in reverse when Ketu occupies the reference.
- Twenty-plus evaluable Jaimini rules in the knowledge base — Atmakaraka and Amatyakaraka associations, planets in the Karakamsha, arudha wealth and conquest yogas, Upapada blessings and doshas, argala yogas — that fire only when your chart forms them.
How the Reading Uses Jaimini
When you add Jaimini to your kundli the Vedic astrologer specialist receives a JAIMINI FACTS block and must write a paragraph under that name using only the facts in it: what the Atmakaraka asks of you, what the Amatyakaraka and the tenth pada say about profession, what the Darakaraka and the Upapada say about marriage, which Chara dasha sign rules this year. For questions about dharma and spirituality Jaimini is added automatically — the Karakamsha and the Atmakaraka are the classical reading of the soul's direction. The synthesis keeps Jaimini and Parashari as separate voices and says where they agree. The full method is documented on the methodology page; the chart itself comes from the free kundli engine.
Chara Dasha: Timing by Signs
Vimshottari dasha times life by planets; Chara dasha times it by signs. Each sign rules a period whose length is the count from the sign to its lord — direct for odd-footed signs, reverse for even-footed — minus one, and twelve years when the lord sits at home; K.N. Rao adds no year for an exalted lord and repeats the same cycle after the first. Because several Chara dasha variants exist, ProxaAI names the one it uses (K.N. Rao's) so a practitioner can check the periods against their own software. The running dasha sign is read as a lagna — the planets in it, the houses from it, the padas and karakas it holds — and, as K.N. Rao insists, a window is trusted only when the Chara and Vimshottari periods both show the event.
Jaimini Beside Parashari and KP
Jaimini is one of the four Indian schools you can add to a kundli, with Lal Kitab, Nadi and KP. They do not replace the Parashari reading; each adds a labelled perspective, and the consensus is weighted by the question's domain, not by which school shouts loudest.
Jaimini Astrology — Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the Atmakaraka?
- The planet with the highest degree in its sign among the seven grahas — the significator of the self and the soul's purpose in Jaimini astrology. ProxaAI also reports the eight-karaka scheme (with Rahu) whenever it names a different planet.
- Which Chara dasha variant does ProxaAI use?
- K.N. Rao's: direct or reverse sequence from the lagna by the footing of its ninth sign, years counted to the sign lord minus one, twelve for a lord at home, no exaltation or debilitation adjustment, the stronger co-lord for Scorpio and Aquarius, and the same cycle repeated. The variant is printed with the periods.
- Do I need a birth time for Jaimini?
- Karakas and rashi drishti work from the sign positions alone. The arudha padas, argala on the lagna and Chara dasha need the lagna, so they are computed only when the birth time is known.
- What is argala?
- Intervention: planets in the 2nd, 4th, 11th (and 5th) from a reference support its matters unless the planets in the 12th, 10th, 3rd (and 9th) are more numerous or stronger. ProxaAI computes it on the lagna, the Atmakaraka and the Arudha Lagna, counts in reverse when Ketu sits in the reference, and separates benefic from malefic argala.
- Is Jaimini included by default?
- For questions about dharma and spirituality, yes. For everything else, tick "Jaimini" on your kundli and every reading gets a Jaimini paragraph.
Real astronomy. Classical rules. Then the AI.
Every reading starts from a chart computed to astronomical precision and a set of classical rules evaluated deterministically — the AI only interprets what the calculation produced.
