In 2027, New Delhi has 52 days with a griha pravesh muhurat in the calendar view — the rules as many published calendars apply them — and 27 days in the strict view of the books. The strict view leaves out 25 of them: Simhastha Guru closes 14, Kharmas 13, Chaturmas 3, the days around a combustion 2 and the sankranti hours 1 (a day can fall under two rules), and it shortens the windows of 1 day more. The most days fall in March (9) and November (9); August to October have none.

The calendar view was checked against a published almanac's griha pravesh lists: all of 2026 at Gurgaon, November 2026 to February 2027 at Mumbai, Kolkata and Gurgaon, and all of 2027 at New Delhi. Where the two differ, a named rule explains it (below).

Two views, two lists
Published calendars and the books do not agree on every rule, so this page gives two lists. The calendar view follows the rules as many printed panchangs apply them. The strict view starts from the same windows and also applies Simhastha and Makara Guru (by region), the 7 days on either side of Venus' or Jupiter's combustion, Kharmas, Chaturmas, 16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of each sankranti and Holashtak in the regions where Muhurta Chintamani keeps it. A strict window always lies inside a calendar window, so the strict list is a shorter version of the same list, never a different one.
The biggest difference is Simhastha Guru, Jupiter in Leo. Jupiter is in Magha or the first pada of Purva Phalguni from 31 Oct 2026, 12:02 to 25 Jan 2027, 01:31 and from 26 Jun 2027, 05:18 to 15 Sep 2027, 09:56 IST, which the books rule out in every region; it is in the rest of Leo from 15 Sep 2027, 09:56 to 26 Nov 2027, 18:45 IST, which they rule out at New Delhi too. The Simhastha Guru guide explains the rule, its regions and its sources, and Kharmas 2026–27 covers the two months of the Sun in Dhanu and Meena.
Which list to follow is a family matter. If your family keeps the books strictly, use the strict view; if it goes by the printed panchang, use the calendar view. Why muhurat dates differ lists the other reasons two calendars disagree.
Where this calendar view and the checked almanac differ, a rule explains it. That almanac's new-home list also leaves out Shukla Pratipada, both Shashthis, both Ashtamis, both Dwadashis, Purnima and Krishna Trayodashi, while this list follows Muhurta Chintamani, which bars the rikta tithis and Amavasya. That almanac keeps the Vyatipata and Vaidhriti yogas and cuts no nakshatra gandanta; this list avoids both. It judges a combustion by the planet's visibility and leaves out about three more days on either side of it, so near a combustion the two lists can differ by several days either way; this calendar view uses Surya Siddhanta's orbs without extra days, and the strict view leaves out seven.
Griha pravesh dates 2027, month by month
Each date shows its muhurat windows in IST for New Delhi, the nakshatra and tithi in them, and a strength word. A card says when the strict view shortens or closes the day; where it says nothing, both views agree. Choose a view to see one list at a time.
Every listed day passes the rules. "Very good", "Good" and "Usable" are a rough order from classical factors (such as the star, the weekday, the bright half) — not a probability or a promise.

Simhastha Guru: Jupiter in Magha or the first pada of Purva Phalguni Strict view
31 Oct 2026, 12:02 – 25 Jan 2027, 01:31

Kharmas (the Sun in Dhanu) Strict view
16 Dec 2026, 10:25 – 14 Jan 2027, 21:10
With the Sun in Dhanu the month lies in Dakshinayana, and Muhurta Chintamani has a new house entered only in Uttarayana (Samskara and Griha-pravesha prakaranas): the strict view rules it out. The calendar view goes by the lunar month alone, as many published lists do.
Kharmas (the Sun in Meena) Strict view
15 Mar 2027, 07:00 – 14 Apr 2027, 15:28
The Sun in Meena: avoiding it is a widely kept custom, and the strict view keeps it. The calendar view goes by the lunar month alone.

6 Jul 2027, 20:42 – 17 Sep 2027, 22:48
Venus is combust by Surya Siddhanta's orbs (10°, 8° while retrograde): both views rule out entering a new home. Almanacs that judge the planet's visibility can differ by a few days.
Chaturmas Strict view
13 Jul 2027, 12:09 – 10 Nov 2027, 09:11
The calendar view already leaves out Ashadha, Shravana, Bhadrapada and Ashwin, which are not months for a new home, but keeps Kartika, a middling month. Many families wait for Dev Uthani Ekadashi — a custom — and the strict view does too.
Jupiter about to set (vriddha) Strict view

Venus newly risen (balya) Strict view
17 Sep 2027, 22:48 – 24 Sep 2027, 22:48
The 7 days after the planet rises again (balya — Dharma Sindhu's middle view): the strict view only.
Kharmas (the Sun in Dhanu) Strict view
16 Dec 2027, 16:38 – 15 Jan 2028, 03:24
With the Sun in Dhanu the month lies in Dakshinayana, and Muhurta Chintamani has a new house entered only in Uttarayana (Samskara and Griha-pravesha prakaranas): the strict view rules it out. The calendar view goes by the lunar month alone, as many published lists do.
The sankranti hours (strict view)
The strict view avoids 16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of the moment the Sun enters a sign (B.V. Raman, Muhurtha; Kalaprakasika's 30 ghatis are not applied). The sankrantis of 2027 at New Delhi, in IST:
Makara (Capricorn): the Sun enters at 14 Jan 2027, 21:10; avoided 14 Jan 2027, 14:46 – 15 Jan 2027, 03:34
Kumbha (Aquarius): the Sun enters at 13 Feb 2027, 10:09; avoided 13 Feb 2027, 03:45–16:33

Vrishchika (Scorpio): the Sun enters at 17 Nov 2027, 01:58; avoided 16 Nov 2027, 19:34 – 17 Nov 2027, 08:22
Dhanu (Sagittarius): the Sun enters at 16 Dec 2027, 16:38; avoided 16 Dec 2027, 10:14–23:02
Holashtak (15 Mar 2027, 10:51 – 22 Mar 2027, 16:13, IST) is not applied at New Delhi: Muhurta Chintamani's Shubhashubha prakarana, quoting Shighrabodha, keeps it only on the Beas, the Ravi and the Sutlej and at Pushkar. Many families across North India keep it by custom; if yours does, leave these days out too.
How these dates are chosen
The Moon's nakshatra: only the fixed and soft stars — Rohini, Mrigashira, Uttara Phalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, Uttara Ashadha, Uttara Bhadrapada and Revati (Muhurta Chintamani, Griha-pravesha prakarana).
The lunar month (amanta): Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha or Jyeshtha, with Kartika and Margashirsha middling (Griha-pravesha prakarana; Narada also counts those two as middling, and Pausha too, which these lists do not use). Never in an adhika month, and never while Venus or Jupiter is combust (Surya Siddhanta's orbs).
The weekday: never a Sunday or Tuesday — Narada Samhita says so for a new house, and published calendars apply it too.
The tithi: no rikta tithi (Chaturthi, Navami or Chaturdashi of either half) and no Amavasya (Narada Samhita, for a new house; B.V. Raman, Muhurtha).
No Bhadra (Vishti karana): it is avoided whole. The finer rules of its abode and its tail are not applied, so this list is stricter than calendars that apply them.
The yoga: never Vyatipata or Vaidhriti; of the other inauspicious yogas only the opening ghatis are cut — Vishkambha 5 ghatis, Atiganda 6 ghatis, Shula 7 ghatis, Ganda 6 ghatis, Vyaghata 9 ghatis, Vajra 9 ghatis, Parigha its first half (a ghati is 24 minutes; the larger of the counts the texts give — Muhurta Chintamani, Shubhashubha prakarana).
Gandanta: the last quarter of Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Revati and the first quarter of Magha, Mula and Ashwini are cut out (Kalaprakasika; Muhurta Chintamani states it in its Vivaha prakarana).
Rahu Kalam, Yamaganda and Gulika — the day's eighths by weekday — are cut out of every window (South Indian practice, Kalaprakasika). Kalaprakasika itself does not count Gulika as inauspicious; these lists cut it anyway, as many calendars do, so they are a little stricter there.
The day runs from sunrise to the next sunrise, so a window can run into the night; the note beside the time says so. A window keeps at least one ghati (24 minutes) of clean time, and a day shows up to three.
Strength: "Very good", "Good" and "Usable" are a rough order from the star's grade, a benefic's weekday (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), the bright half and one of the best months — not a probability.
What the strict view adds
Simhastha Guru: Jupiter in Magha or the first pada of Purva Phalguni rules out entering a new home everywhere; Jupiter in the rest of Simha rules it out between the Ganga and the Godavari and in Gujarat, Bengal and Odisha (which takes in New Delhi); the rule is lifted while the Sun is in Mesha (Muhurta Chintamani, Shubhashubha prakarana, with Dharma Sindhu).
Makara Guru: Jupiter in Makara, avoided only in Konkan, Magadha, Bengal and Sindh — not at New Delhi.
The 7 days before Venus or Jupiter sets and the 7 days after it rises (vriddha and balya — Dharma Sindhu's middle view; regional counts of 3 to 10 days are not applied).
Kharmas: the Sun in Dhanu — for a new house a book rule too, because the month lies in Dakshinayana (Muhurta Chintamani, Samskara and Griha-pravesha prakaranas) — or in Meena (a widely kept custom).
Chaturmas, until Dev Uthani Ekadashi: Muhurta Chintamani's month list rates Kartika middling, but many families wait (a custom).
16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of each sankranti (B.V. Raman, Muhurtha).
Holashtak, Phalguna Shukla Ashtami to Purnima: Muhurta Chintamani (Shubhashubha prakarana, quoting Shighrabodha) keeps it only on the Beas, the Ravi and the Sutlej and at Pushkar; many families across North India keep it by custom, and these lists do not apply it at New Delhi.
What these lists leave to you
The lagna: the exact moment (the rising sign) is fixed by your priest inside these windows.
Your own factors: Tara Bala and Chandra Bala depend on your birth star and Moon sign. They are not checked here.
Eclipse days, kshaya and vriddhi tithis, tithi gandanta, the dagdha and visha tithi–weekday pairs, Panchaka and Chandra Bala's vedha are not applied in either view.
Uttarayana as a rule of its own: Muhurta Chintamani asks for it, yet its own month list for a new house rates Kartika and Margashirsha middling. Both views follow the month list; the strict view's Kharmas closes the Dhanu month. The book's relaxation for an old or rebuilt house is not applied either.
Family and local customs beyond the rules named on this page.
For your city or your own dates
A nakshatra or tithi changes at the same moment everywhere, but each place has its own sunrise, sunset and Rahu Kalam, so another city's windows start and end a few minutes apart, and a day near a change can drop out or come in. The muhurat finder computes both views of the griha pravesh list for your city and your own dates, up to three months at a time. Start from a month:
A personal check with your own birth star
A list for everyone cannot check your own stars. Muhurta Chintamani's Gochara prakarana adds two personal checks: Tara Bala, the day's nakshatra counted from your birth nakshatra, and Chandra Bala, the Moon's sign counted from your birth Moon sign. A day that is good in general can be weak for you.
Ask the AI astrologer about a date from this list. It computes both checks from your kundli, reads the day's windows for the place saved in your kundli and names the rule behind its answer.

How many griha pravesh muhurat days are there in 2027?
At New Delhi, 52 days in the calendar view and 27 days in the strict view. The most fall in March (9) and November (9). August to October have none. Each date on this page shows its windows in IST.
Which months are good for a griha pravesh in 2027?
Muhurta Chintamani's Griha-pravesha prakarana wants the lunar month Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha or Jyeshtha, with Kartika and Margashirsha middling (amanta months). In 2027 at New Delhi: Margashirsha (1 Jan – 7 Jan), Magha (7 Feb – 8 Mar), Phalguna (9 Mar – 6 Apr), Vaishakha (7 May – 4 Jun), Jyeshtha (5 Jun – 4 Jul), Kartika (30 Oct – 28 Nov) and Margashirsha (29 Nov – 27 Dec).
Is a griha pravesh allowed during Simhastha Guru 2027?
For a new house, the strict view says no and the calendar view yes: many published calendars do not apply the rule. That closes 14 days the calendar view keeps in 2027.
Can we do a griha pravesh in Kharmas or Chaturmas 2027?
In the strict view, no. With the Sun in Dhanu the month lies in Dakshinayana, and Muhurta Chintamani has a new house entered only in Uttarayana (Samskara and Griha-pravesha prakaranas); with the Sun in Meena, avoiding it is a widely kept custom, and so is waiting for Dev Uthani Ekadashi in Chaturmas. The calendar view goes by the lunar month, as many published lists do, so it keeps 13 days in Kharmas and 3 days in Chaturmas that the strict view closes. Kharmas: 16 Dec 2026, 10:25 – 14 Jan 2027, 21:10; 15 Mar 2027, 07:00 – 14 Apr 2027, 15:28; 16 Dec 2027, 16:38 – 15 Jan 2028, 03:24 (IST).
Do these dates apply to an old or rebuilt house?
These lists are for entering a new house. Moving back into an old house, or into one rebuilt after damage, is different: for it, Muhurta Chintamani's Griha-pravesha prakarana asks for no check of the combustion of Venus or Jupiter, the days around it, Simhastha or Makara Guru — a clean panchang and the stars it names are enough. This page does not apply that relaxation, so for such a house both lists may leave out days the book allows.
Are these griha pravesh dates the same for my city?
Mostly, but not to the minute. A nakshatra or tithi changes at the same moment everywhere, while sunrise, sunset and Rahu Kalam are local, so another city's windows start and end a few minutes apart, and a day can drop out or come in where a change falls near a window's edge. The strict view also reads some rules by region: the rest of Simhastha, Makara Guru and Holashtak. The muhurat finder computes both views for your city.
