From 1 November to 31 December 2026, New Delhi has 26 days with a gold buying muhurat in the calendar view — the books' main rules for buying gold — and 14 days in the strict view of the books. Neither view checks the lagna. The strict view leaves out 12 of them: the weekday rule closes 11 and the sankranti rule 2 (a day can fall under two rules). Guru-Pushya, Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya are customs: the page names them where they fall.
Computed for New Delhi (28.61° N, 77.21° E) in IST with the Swiss Ephemeris and the Lahiri ayanamsa, for no particular person. Other cities differ by minutes. Neither view checks the lagna; how this list compares with other lists is below.
The calendar view's dates month by month, and what the strict view does with them. The cards below give the times.
The calendar view ranks 2 days in this range "Very good", here with the star of the best window: Wednesday 16 Dec (Shatabhisha); Sunday 20 Dec (Ashwini). Your own stars can still make one of them weak (below).
On a Saturday or Sunday: 1, 7, 15, 21, 28 and 29 November; 5, 6, 12, 19 and 20 December — 11 of the 26 days.
By weekday: 5 on a Sunday, 2 on a Monday, 3 on a Tuesday, 4 on a Wednesday, 2 on a Thursday, 4 on a Friday and 6 on a Saturday; by fortnight, 13 in the bright half and 13 in the dark half (by the tithi of the first window).
Each date with its weekday and the star and tithi of its first window: Sunday 1 Nov (Pushya, Krishna Saptami); Friday 6 Nov (Hasta, Krishna Dwadashi); Saturday 7 Nov (Chitra, Krishna Trayodashi); Tuesday 10 Nov (Anuradha, Shukla Pratipada); Wednesday 11 Nov (Anuradha, Shukla Dwitiya); Sunday 15 Nov (Uttara Ashadha, Shukla Shashthi); Monday 16 Nov (Shravana, Shukla Saptami); Friday 20 Nov (Uttara Bhadrapada, Shukla Ekadashi); Saturday 21 Nov (Revati, Shukla Dwadashi); Wednesday 25 Nov (Rohini, Krishna Pratipada); Saturday 28 Nov (Punarvasu, Krishna Panchami); Sunday 29 Nov (Pushya, Krishna Shashthi); Thursday 3 Dec (Uttara Phalguni, Krishna Dashami); Friday 4 Dec (Chitra, Krishna Ekadashi); Saturday 5 Dec (Chitra, Krishna Dwadashi); Sunday 6 Dec (Swati, Krishna Trayodashi); Saturday 12 Dec (Uttara Ashadha, Shukla Tritiya); Monday 14 Dec (Shravana, Shukla Panchami); Tuesday 15 Dec (Dhanishtha, Shukla Shashthi); Wednesday 16 Dec (Shatabhisha, Shukla Saptami); Saturday 19 Dec (Revati, Shukla Dashami); Sunday 20 Dec (Ashwini, Shukla Ekadashi); Tuesday 22 Dec (Rohini, Shukla Trayodashi); Friday 25 Dec (Punarvasu, Krishna Dwitiya); Wednesday 30 Dec (Uttara Phalguni, Krishna Saptami); Thursday 31 Dec (Hasta, Krishna Ashtami).
Dhanteras (Friday, 6 November 2026) is on this list: 07:10–07:58, 09:21–10:42 and 12:05–14:48 IST.
Diwali (8 Nov) is not on this list: Lakshmi Puja falls on Amavasya, which these lists leave out.
The books give main rules and further cautions for buying gold, so this page gives two lists. The calendar view follows the books' main rules for buying gold. The strict view starts from the same windows and also applies no Monday, Tuesday or Saturday, no day when the Sun and Jupiter share a sign (gurvaditya) and 16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of each sankranti. A strict window always lies inside a calendar window, so the strict list is a shorter version of the same list, never a different one.
Buying gold needs no season in the rules these lists follow: Simhastha Guru, the combustion of Venus and Jupiter, Kharmas and Chaturmas are applied to weddings, a new home and the samskaras, not to a purchase. So here the strict view adds the book's rules for putting on new gold: it closes 12 days the calendar view keeps. Kharmas 2026–27 explains which of those periods are customs for a purchase.
Which list to follow is a family matter. If your family keeps the books strictly, use the strict view; if it keeps their main rules, use the calendar view. Why muhurat dates differ lists the other reasons two calendars disagree.
The almanac this site checks its calendar views against publishes no year list for buying gold, so both views apply the book's rules for buying and for wearing gold directly, and the customs are named as customs. The days themselves are the panchang's: the Guru-Pushya and Ravi-Pushya days come from the Moon's nakshatra and the weekday, and Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya from the festival calendar — the same panchang whose festival dates agree day for day with a widely used almanac's from October 2026 to December 2027.
Each date shows its muhurat windows in IST for New Delhi, the nakshatra and tithi in them, and a strength word. A card says when the strict view shortens or closes the day; where it says nothing, both views agree. Choose a view to see one list at a time.
Every listed day passes the rules. "Very good", "Good" and "Usable" are a rough order from classical factors (such as the star, the weekday, the bright half) — not a probability or a promise.

No season rules out buying gold in these lists: only the day of a sankranti (in the strict view, its hours) and the day of an eclipse close it, as the rules below say. The periods families ask about follow with their dates, for a family that keeps them.
The strict view avoids 16 ghatis (6 h 24 min) on either side of the moment the Sun enters a sign (B.V. Raman, Muhurtha). The sankrantis of this range at New Delhi, in IST:
Neither list rules out buying gold for these periods at New Delhi. The books' lists of acts kept away from Simhastha, combustion and Kharmas do not name a purchase; Chaturmas and Holashtak are not applied to one either. If your family keeps any of them, skip those dates (IST):
A nakshatra or tithi changes at the same moment everywhere, but each place has its own sunrise, sunset and Rahu Kalam, so another city's windows start and end a few minutes apart, and a day near a change can drop out or come in. The muhurat finder computes both views of the gold buying list for your city and your own dates, up to three months at a time, and its results offer the personal check below. Start from a month:
A list for everyone cannot check your own stars. Muhurta Chintamani's Gochara prakarana adds two personal checks: Tara Bala, the day's nakshatra counted from the birth nakshatra, and Chandra Bala, the Moon's sign counted from the birth Moon sign. A day that is good in general can be weak for one person.
The personal gold buying muhurat reads your saved kundli: each day's Tara Bala and Chandra Bala, a Muhurat Patra (PDF) and reminders. 101 coins for the event: before you pay you see how many days are open before your chart is checked, and if none passes your chart, nothing is charged. Or 50 coins to check one date, charged for its answer, whether the date passes or not.
Or ask the AI astrologer about one date from this list: it reads the day for the place saved in your kundli and names the rule behind its answer.
Sign in, then choose your kundli and the city.
Type the date and the event. Sign in on the next screen and add the birth details once — the question will be waiting in your chat.
