Guru Pushya Yoga is the day the Moon is in the nakshatra Pushya on a Thursday (Guru-var); on a Sunday it is called Ravi Pushya. In tradition it is the most popular muhurat for buying gold. The books name other stars for buying, and Pushya among the stars for wearing gold; this guide sets out both, the custom and the rules.
This guide lists every Guru Pushya and Ravi Pushya from November 2026 to December 2027 with the hours at New Delhi, says which of them pass the rules for buying gold, and explains what the books say and what is custom.
The almanac this site checks its calendar views against publishes no year list for buying gold, so these dates come straight from the book's rules and the panchang. A widely read website's 2027 gold list has 28 days; 26 of them are in the calendar view of the gold year page, and the other 2 are closed by the book's rules (a rikta tithi on both). The dates are the panchang's own: the Pushya hours come from the Moon's nakshatra on the Thursday or Sunday, and Dhanteras and Akshaya Tritiya from the festival calendar — the same panchang whose festival dates agree day for day with a widely used almanac's from October 2026 to December 2027.
Guru Pushya and Ravi Pushya Dates, November 2026 to December 2027
A Hindu weekday runs from sunrise to the next sunrise, so a Pushya that begins after midnight but before Friday's sunrise still falls on the Thursday. The hours below are when the Moon is in Pushya within that Thursday or Sunday, at New Delhi in IST; the last column says what the gold list does with the day.
| Date | Yoga | Hours at New Delhi (IST) | The gold list that day |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Nov 2026 (Sun) | Ravi Pushya | 06:32, 1 Nov → 04:30, 2 Nov | in Pushya: 06:33–12:04, 13:28–14:50 |

So the year has no Guru Pushya in November or December 2026 and five in 2027, of which only 18 March 2027 gives daylight hours in Pushya that pass the rules for buying gold. The Ravi Pushya days of 1 November 2026, 29 November 2026, 29 August 2027 and 26 September 2027 do too. Times are computed with the Swiss Ephemeris and the Lahiri ayanamsa; other cities differ by minutes at sunrise and sunset, but the Moon's entry into Pushya is the same instant everywhere.
"A rikta tithi" is Chaturthi, Navami or Chaturdashi, which the book's verse on wearing gold rules out; Bhadra is the Vishti karana, avoided for any beginning; gurvaditya is the Sun and Jupiter in one sign (below). The gold list keeps daylight only, so a Pushya after sunset has no window on it.
